Feel the "Love"

"My issues with Mormonism come up when they try to pass themselves off as just another Christian denomination, when they are really an offshoot diversion/corruption. We all may have once had common roots, but Mormons went off the beaten path when they put more stock in the words a guy who dug up a box of golden dinnerware, rather than in the words of Jesus Christ. CB007, I wrote this one after the Prop 8 mess. It goes right to the point you made about sectarian Christians and gays ganging up on Mormons. It's a case of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." http://spamlds.ning.com/profiles/blogs/what-differen

A conservative Christian local newspaper printing a pro gay rights story? Wait, gay marriage is less of a threat than Mormonism isn't it? They don't even bother to cover up the blatent discrimination anymore. Welcome to the latter days.

What I find funny is the constant attack that "Joseph Smith" violated several laws of the Land. Yet, here, we have a prime example of Christians who think that "their branded gospel of Jesus Christ" gives them the right to go into a country and brea…

Do Mormons Believe in Salvation by Grace or Works?

This is a post that has been up on S.P.A.M for almost two years. As we are getting visitors from the anti-Mormon "Ephesians2.net" web site, I'm bumping this one for currency. Perhaps they'll learn what Mormon really believe about salvation, grace, and works.

Getting Real

The Internet tends to add legitimacy to one's voice, whether you are a political blogger, activist, business, church, ministry, or conspiracy nut. A poorly designed web site can make an established business look amateurish and incompetent for competition in the 21st century. On the other hand, a well-designed web site can elevate the status of a small company with a couple of guys in an office.

The blogosphere is filled with voices that make all kinds of claims. At times it seems like the whole… Continue

How you can help S.P.A.M.

One of our new members who is from Liberia asked if it would be possible to get S.P.A.M. in his own country. I appreciate his enthusiasm and his willingness to work to defend the Church from anti-Mormon attacks, but I wanted to take a moment to discuss just what S.P.A.M. is and how it works.

S.P.A.M. is not simply the pro-LDS counterpart to the anti-Mormon ministries that attack the Church. Unlike groups like "Concerned Christians," we don't have an office or an office manager. We don't have a… Continue

Baptism: comparing the Bible to sectarian doctrines

Christian denominations often teach that Mormonism teachings are not "biblical." This is an example of anti-Mormon tactics #3 and #6:

3. Distort Mormon doctrines by comparing them to the unscriptural teachings of Christian creeds

6. Accuse your opponent of doing the very thing you are doing

For most believers, the denominational differences between Christian sects are no big deal. Most Christians believe that, so long as you believe in Jesus Christ, you'll be saved. Illogically,… Continue

Jessica Sheley attacks Greg and S.P.A.M.

One of the valuable things about S.P.A.M. is that it documents conversations and interactions with anti-Mormons, leaving a true record of events. Anti-Mormons are prone to twisting things to suit their particular message. However, when a written record of the interactions we have with them is prese… Continue

Is the Book of Mormon merely a work of 19th century fiction?

Think about it

An anti-Mormon reader of my Examiner.com column wrote:

“ If their were any book of Mormon artifacts the LDS Church would have these artifacts on display at Temple square in Salt Lake... Their are no artifacts and the Book of Mormon is a 19th century work of fiction.”

This statement was given in response to an article which linked four different videos that showed archaeological evidence that supported the Book of Mormon. Once again, the tactic here is mere gainsaying.

Are the 'Times of the Gentiles' fulfilled?

Today's anti-Mormon firestorm was a reaction to this article on Mormon Times by McKay Coppins titled, Even with decline in baptisms, the church is still true.

Enemies of the Church have celebrated the gradual decline in baptisms in recent years, claiming that this is a sign that Mormonism is losing steam and will soon see its demise. The ones who boast this claim the loudest are always those ex-member… Continue

Greg comes under personal attack from yet another anti-Mormon site

It amuses me to parse and consider ad hominem attacks on me by those who hate the Church and thus, hate S.P.A.M. for defending the Church effectively. For example, the anonymous author of the hate-filled, anti-Mormon blog called "Mormon411" has become a regular visitor to S.P.A.M. and frequently comments on our postings. Here's a recent example which he titled, "Greg, the Coward of SPAMLDS."

Commentary on a WorldNetDaily article

WorldNetDaily columnists Ted Baehr and Tom Snyder wrote an article titled, Neo-Marxists, Brit Hume and Jesus Christ. In it, they protest the purposeful ridicule of sectarian Christians on television by liberal pundits, entertainers, and in this case, even comedians like Jon Stewart.

The article mentions a recent comment by veteran newsman Brit Hume who suggested that Tiger Woods might find peace and redemp… Continue

Disclaimer

In case you're really dense, this is to inform you that S.P.A.M. is not an official site of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm just an opinionated blowhard who feels it's important enough to spend most of my spare time standing up for Mormon beliefs and exposing anti-Mormonism for what it is: hate.

If you're offended by anything you read here, you probably deserve to be. If you think I'm wrong, deluded, deceived, misguided, a liar, a fraud, a deceiver, a "false apostle," or the anti-Christ himself: well, you're entitled to your opinion. I just ask you to extend me the same courtesy.
